URL Shortener Fail

Safari can’t find the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://bit.ly/O3t60” because Safari can’t find the server “bit.ly”.
It’s almost as if reinventing DNS with PHP and MySQL is still a bad idea. (See Joshua Schachter’s pos for that reference.)
